Gunna start the business. Gunna change jobs. Gunna have a crack one day. And then… you do sod all.

Sound familiar?

You’ve got the dream. The idea. The thing you keep telling everyone you’re gunna do. But weeks turn into months, months turn into years, and you’re still stuck exactly where you started — overthinking, faffing about, and having a whinge about it.

Here’s the truth:
most of what’s holding you back isn’t out there. It’s in your head. You’re stuck in decision paralysis, waiting for the perfect moment that never comes.

Part business book. Part get-off-your-arse book. All about making better decisions and getting shit done.

Sod It, Just Do It gives you a dead-simple system for making decisions quicker, with more confidence, and a lot less faffing about. No fluff. No jargon. No corporate BS. Just a practical framework from a bloke who’s spent decades watching smart people stall while someone with less information — and a bit more nerve — simply gets on with it

Inside — and it’s not rocket science:

• The one question that cuts through all the BS: what’s the worst that can happen — and what’s the best?

• The seven-step Sod It, Just Do It system to beat decision paralysis and get moving

• How to research the f*ck out of a decision, so you’re making an educated guess, not a wild punt

• The pub test: the two-minute common-sense check some of the world’s biggest brands clearly skipped

• How to tell whether an idea actually gets you hot — because if you don’t give a sh!t, don’t do it

Whether you want to launch a business, switch careers, or finally chase the thing you keep putting off, this is your kick up the backside.

Thinking about it doesn’t count. Doing it does.

“I’ve known John forever. He gets sh!t done. If you’re the sort of person who’s ‘Gunna do this, Gunna do that’ and then does precisely fck all, this is the book for you.”* — Mark Ritson, Founder of the Mini MBA

You’ve thought about it long enough.

Sod it. Hit Buy Now — and stop being a Gunna.

The inimitable John Miles surprised me with a copy of his book. This is one of the best things you'll ever read about overcoming inertia and making better decisions. It's funny and insightful and endlessly quotable! Get your own copy (or book him as a speaker for your next corporate gig

I’ve just read my mate John’s new book, Sod it, just do it, for the third time. Which is slightly irritating, because every time I read it I find another bit where I think, “Damn it, the annoying bastard is right again!” I’ve known John for over 30 years, and this book is pure John. Not LinkedIn John. Not Ai-enhanced John. Not “personal brand” John with the edges sanded off. Actual “John”. The blunt, funny, practical John, who’s sometimes a bit rude, and occasionally OK on the golf course. It's a book for people who are “gunna” do something, then spend the next six years discussing it over coffee while achieving precisely bugger all. If you need a real kick up the arse RIGHT NOW, this book is for you. Not one of those fake motivational kicks from a bloke in white sneakers telling you to “unlock your authentic self.” A proper one, from someone who has built things, backed himself, made calls, taken a few punches and somehow come out the other side still smiling.

Just finished a great read! If you struggle with making decisions, or need some guidance in how to make the right one, then you need to read John Miles' new book, Sod It, Just Do It. Drawing on 35 years of leadership, John explores why capable people struggle with decisions, why organisations get stuck in 'analysis paralysis', and why indecision is often riskier than just getting shit done. Much like John himself, it's entertaining, energising and full of 'Johnisms' that will help you with your next big decision. It's already been recommended by some of the greats: Mark Ritson, Adam Ferrier, Caroline Rainsford, Andy Lark So don't be a Gunna, go and read it now and let me know what you think.

I’ve had the privilege of serving alongside John Miles on the NZ Marketing Association Board for the past five years, and ‘Sod It, Just Do It’ captures exactly what I’ve come to admire about his leadership. It’s an easy, practical read that helps you get unstuck. Rather than overcomplicating decisions, John shares simple frameworks and memorable analogies to build confidence to take action. It literally reads like he talks, and it’s that same drive that has inspired the re-juvenation of the NZMA. The industry is very fortunate to have him as our CEO. The idea that resonated most is simply asking, “What’s the worst that can happen?” The downside risk is always far smaller than we imagine, with the potential upside much greater. Whether you’re considering a career move, a new venture, or just need a nudge to act, this is a book worth reading.
